Alex Ruggiers is a 3rd-generation Normanite, a former NPS teacher, and a Writer and Curriculum Developer at OU's Center for Public Management.
Alex attended Norman Public Schools and the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Language Arts Education. Alex began teaching in Norman Public Schools at Norman High and then Longfellow Middle School. During his time as a teacher, he earned his Masters in Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum.
By becoming a teacher, Alex joined the tradition of his family of contributing to the culture of learning in Norman. His grandfather, Dr. Paul Ruggiers, served as the first director of the OU Honors Program (now the Honors College) and began the ongoing Variorum Chaucer project at OU. His aunt, Dr. Ruth Loeffler was a beloved teacher at Norman High for decades and educated thousands of Norman students in her lifetime.
Alex has taught 6th, 7th, 9th, and 10th grade English/Language Arts in Norman Public schools at Longfellow Middle School and Norman High. He was a coach of the Academic Team of both schools, and while he was the assistant coach at Norman High, the team qualified for and competed at Nationals in Chicago. He was also the sponsor of the GSA at both Norman High and Longfellow Middle School
